The Annunziata, one of the oldest villages in the city, is located on the southeastern side of Monte Castello, which is dominated by the parish church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Built in 1506, the church replaced the older S. Maria a Toro, becoming a central point for the community. Its façade features a stone-carved portal depicting Emperor Charles V and the dignitaries of the time. The church also houses an altar with the statue of the Madonna delle Grazie, miraculously spared during the bombing of 1943.
Today, the Annunziata, with its captivating replica of the cave of Lourdes and the sacred springs, attracts pilgrims and tourists from all over Italy, continuing a tradition of devotion and timeless beauty.
