A place of great interest is the Villa Comunale (the Puclic Park), once known as 'the Grove.' At the center of the Villa there is the University Club of Cava, which originally served as "Casa del Balilla" during the Fascist period. The Park was inaugurated in 1929 by King Vittorio Emanuele III, along with the Monument to the Fallen of the First World War.
The Casa del Balilla was built in the "grove" through a donation from tobacco farmers, who were required to dedicate a portion of their harvest to the construction of the building. It was later transferred to the Opera Nazionale Balilla.
In 1943, the building was damaged by bombing, but it was later rebuilt and dedicated to the young university students of the city.
The park is characterized by century-old trees that provide shade, especially during the summer months, and a lovely pond in the center that adds to its charm. Along the avenues, lush vegetation and a variety of flowers create an atmosphere of serenity and joy.
